By Mike Dyer
NISKAYUNA, April 28.....Rain? Freezing temperatures? Cold hands? Who cares?
Albany Country Club head pro Glenn Davis and his assistant pro Matt Felber had little trouble Monday after winning the $5,000 Northeastern New York PGA Pro-Assistant Pro Championship at soggy Mohawk Golf Club.
Davis, 41, knocked in five birdies while the 31-year-old Felber added two birdies. They divided the top prize of $1,000.
Davis also shared second place winnings of $850 after a 67 with Albany CC assistant pro Ryan Durnberg.
This is the third victory for Davis, a graduate of Syracuse University who is in his 13th year at Albany Country Club.
Davis shared the honor with Steve Vatter in 1999 and was an assistant to Tom DeBerry in 1995.
DeBerry and Frank Gazeley, of Normanside Country Club, share $725 after a 68 for third place.
The DeBerry team rattled off four straight birdies midway through the round.
The PGA section next competes at Saratoga Golf & Polo Club next Monday.
