NENY PGA Special Award Winners Announced

Albany, NY –

The Northeastern New York PGA Section will kick off the 2008 season on Monday, April 21st  with their annual spring membership meeting and fourball pro-pro event at Columbia G&CC in Claverack, NY. 

The meeting will be highlighted with a special guest appearance by PGA of America President, Brian Whitcomb along with the presentations of the 2007-2008 NENY PGA Special Award Winners, who will be recognized among their PGA Professional peers for their special achievements.

Golf Professional of the Year:  Derek Sprague (General Manager at Malone Golf Club)

Assistant Professional of the Year:  Ryan Callahan (Assistant Professional at Country Club of Troy)

Horton Smith Award Winner:  Tom Philion, (PGM Program Director at SUNY Delhi)

Teacher of the Year: Brian Damon (Head Professional at Schenectady Municipal Golf Course)

Junior Golf Leader:  Tom DeBerry (Director of Golf at Normanside Country Club)

Roland Stafford Sportsmanship Award:  Tom Siddon (Head Professional at Massena Country Club)

Bill Strausbaugh Award:  Mike Behan (Head Professional at Olde Kinderhook Golf Club)

Co-Sales Person of the Year: 
Jeff Kelley (Sales Representative for Acushnet Golf Company)
Bernie Jorgensen (Sales Representative for Satch Sales Inc./Club Car Inc.)

President’s Plaque:  Ron Choquette (Director of Golf at Burden Lake Country Club)
